Release the Impossible

I followed a spark straight to Central Women’s Aid. After meeting the warm and inspiring Eva, we decided to invite every woman in the “Steps to Freedom” programme to join series of photoshoots.

We improvised often — listening, sharing ideas, playing with props. There were moments of fragility and deep sensitivity, and moments of laughter, strength and pure empowerment. I loved every second of this voluntary project.

I feel privileged to stand among such extraordinary women — women who celebrate themselves, support one another, and understand. I hope this is only the beginning of many more stories we’ll create together.

The women who stepped in front of my lens carry stories shaped by courage. Each of them has walked through experiences of abuse that could have silenced them — yet here they are, standing taller, reclaiming space that was once taken from them. Their presence in the photo sessions was an act of bravery in itself: a quiet defiance, a declaration that their lives, their identities, and their futures belong to them. In every portrait I saw strength not defined by what they endured, but by how they rose beyond it — with dignity, resilience and an unwavering will to rebuild. These women are not just survivors; they are remarkable forces of freedom and power.
